Christmas Wrapping Paper Waste
We at TSP Austin care a lot about what goes into landfills and what is recycled. In the America we waste 4 million tons of gift wrap each and every year. All this trash decorations ends up in landfills after the holidays. Thanksgiving and New Years creates a large amount of waste but Christmas is number 1 with a 25% increase over normal waste volume between Thanksgiving and New Years.
We do junk waste management for a living and it hurts us that every year there is 3 billion cards that are wasted and more then enough ribbon is wasted that could tie a bow around the Earth and in the end it all ends up in landfills.
A Better Way to Gift Wrap
As a junk removal company we are very in-touch with eco-friendly ways to give the recipient an additional gift with reusable packaging.
Fabric Gift Wrap

Fabric scraps make for a great recycling into gift wrap during the holidays. These pieces of fabric can be wrapped, tied or rolled around a gift to make a simple reusable wrap.

This is a very affordable and super beautiful way to wrap gifts. I some times buy them on sale on and save them for gift giving times. O
Reusable Shopping Bags Gift Wrap

Another practical way to wrap gifts is in reusable shopping bags. Many stores have really cute reusable bags for about a dollar (ironically, much cheaper than some gift bags!) and these can be used for months or years with the added bonus of reducing waste at stores as well.
Baskets Gift Wrapping

There are so many beautiful options available and the recipient can use the basket as well as the gift!
Towels Gift Wrapping

Got some cool looking towels well they do make a really nice gift warp in the same way you would use wrapping paper and make a simple tie.
Blankets Gift Wrapping

I save blankets on hand for wrapping gifts for friends and it really makes a warm gift idea very nice.
Recycled Gift Wrap Materials

Another eco-friendly gift wrap idea is to recycle materials that you already have on hand as gift wrap. Consider using:
Old Maps Gift Wraping

A super cool colorful gift warpping can be done by using old or maps you have around your home. It is also a great way to reuse old trash. Maps make beautiful wrapping paper and kids will often love looking at the maps before opening their gifts.
Art Work

A child’s artwork is an adorable and creative wrapping for a gift. For smaller gifts, use a small piece of paper that a child has decorated with crayon, marker or paint or use bigger paintings or drawings for larger gifts. To make the artwork usable even after unwrapping, do not use tape but secure by folding paper on the sides and tie with twine to secure.
Newspaper

Who does not have access to news paper, pretty much everyone of us has access to news paper that is colorful and would make great warping paper. This is a cheap way to wrap gifts, it can be dressed up with twine or burlap ribbon or decorated you can even add paint to make it look better.
Brown Paper Grocery Bags

When you got brown paper bags from grocery store you can turned inside out to make a easy good gift wrapping. Add a bow or tie it at the top with string or rope.
Shopping Bags

I have got countless gifts wrapped in shopping bags and some of the bags are really fancy and look great.
Boxes

We all have boxes around our home many from walmart and amazon, these are great to reuse to package gifts in.
